Share market update: Bank shares advance; YES Bank jumps 5%

NEW DELHI: Bank shares were trading with gains in Thursday’s morning session.

Shares of YES BankNSE 1.27 % (up 5 per cent), Punjab National BankNSE 1.63 % (up 3.18 per cent), Federal Bank (up 2.05 per cent) and IDFC First Bank (up 1.50 per cent) were trading in the green.

HDFC Bank (up 1.40 per cent), Bank of Baroda (up 0.86 per cent), Kotak Mahindra BankNSE 1.45 % (up 0.61 per cent) and RBL Bank (up 0.54 per cent) too were trading higher.

The Nifty Bank index was trading 0.37 per cent up at 29,875.15 around 11:24 am.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 27.70 points at 11,775.85 while the BSE Sensex was up 122.32 points at 39,153.87.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 25 were trading in the green, while 25 were in the red.

Shares of YES Bank, Ashok Leyland, Vodafone Idea, Tata Motors, Bank of Baroda, SBI, SAIL, ICICI Bank, JSW Steel, ONGC, Indian Oil Corp and DLF were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
