Share market update: FMCG shares trade higher; ITC up 3%

Markets getty 1NEW DELHI: FMCG shares were trading higher in Friday’s afternoon session.

Shares of ITCNSE 3.15 % (up 2.90 per cent), Britannia Industries (up 1.26 per cent), Godrej Consumer Products (up 0.97 per cent) and MaricoNSE 0.46 % (up 0.85 per cent) were the top performers in the index.

Dabur India (up 0.84 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (up 0.48 per cent), United Breweries (up 0.45 per cent) and GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare (up 0.26 per cent) too were trading with gains.

The Nifty FMCG index was trading 1.14 per cent up at 30,493.70 around 02:47 pm.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 53.85 points at 11,650.55 while the BSE Sensex was up 188.71 points at 38,795.72.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 32 were trading in the green, while 18 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, BHEL, DLF, YES Bank, Tata Motors, ITC, Ashok Leyland, SAIL, Indian Oil Corp, SBI, Bank of Baroda, GAIL, Bharti Airtel, Vedanta and NTPC were among the most traded shares on the NSE.
